A-H-H-H.... one of my favorite topics! I was done with treatment in January and got a tattoo in April. I did not have radiation just a mastectomy and chemo. It was on my upper arm of my side that did not have breast cancer. (Can't mess with the arm on the side which had the breast cancer.... no blood pressure, no blood draws etc. I hope your onc. warned you about that.) Anyway.... This is probably something you should talk to your oncologist about. BUT.... you deserve a tattoo for breast cancer combat duty! Mine was in honor of my best friend who quit her breast cancer treatment and died from her disease. Take care, Sharon

It results from a blockage in your lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. The blockage prevents lymph fluid from draining well, and the fluid buildup leads to swelling. Shots, blood pressure and anything on the effected arm can cause the swelling. I had three removed and I no longer allow any medical things done to my left arm

  Ok, so it is specifically related to lymph node removal. I didn't have lymph nodes removed so that would make sense as to why my oncologist did not mention that to me.

  yes, just to the removal of the lymph nodes. That would explain why they did not mention it , You should be OK

My tattoo artist did my first tattoo 4 months after my last radiation 6 months after my last chemo. She had me wait two more months to tattoo over my port scar. She wanted all the redness out of the scar. It was about 6 months frim

Stage 2B Patient

I got my eyebrows tattooed (they didn't grow back after taxotere chemo) and they told me four to six months. It has actually been a little longer than that but my eyeliner did not take. I need to have my brows touched up but can't do until next spring sine I just finished chemo again.

Ok kool !!! Thanks ladies, I finished my last chemo May 31st and radiation August 16th, I do believe I deserve that survivor tatt I want and I'm gonna put it in the opposite side of the ex cancer, but I didn't know about never being about to use the arm again do thanks for that info
